"Goon"

With fists soaring through the air and grown men hitting the ice, the movie “Goon” is a winner. “Goon” is a simple movie about a man named Doug Glatt. He is an ordinary man looking to find his place in the world. Doug, played by Sean William Scott, is a social outcast due to his lack of brains and awkward demeanor. While Glatt may not be the brightest crayon in the box, he is still a delightful character. Sean William Scott plays a charming role. Unlike other roles, he is actually the nice guy for once. While struggling to become accepted by his parents and society, Glatt discovers his talent for brawling during a hockey game. His obnoxious friend, Ryan (Jay Baruchel) causes a fight with a hockey player. Glatt quickly sticks up for his friend and lands a knockout blow to the over-confident player. Hockey coaches take notice of Glatt’s brawling abilities and quickly take advantage. Though Glatt’s abilities are limited to brawling, he quickly becomes a key role on the team. Ross Rhea (Liev Screiber), a long time scrapper in the league, quickly takes notice to Glatt’s talent. Although Rhea respects Glatt as the new tough guy, he’s still ready to tear his head off once they touch the ice. Ultimately “Goon” is building up to this intense and heart throbbing fight between Doug and Rhea. “Goon” is definitely a fighting movie, but in the end it’s truly about finding a place in the world. “Goon” is incredibly funny and violent. Personally I loved the movie but I would not recommend “Goon” for younger audiences. It is rated R for a good reason.
